Patterns are the major cost
involved in producing castings. Formers are always circular so this allows
ourselves to produce castings by strikling. We make a x-section of the
shape and strike it through the sand.
The production is cost effective
and allows complex shapes to be produced with low tooling costs. The castings
are made off a centre spigot so are therefore relatively well balanced.
This former was 3300mm dia. and for charity
we filled it up with plants to become the biggest hanging basket in the
world in conjunction with Gardening News.
