The original fibreglass statues had been vandalised, we had been
asked to replace them in cast iron.
We have referred to them as the 'Doughmen' , each with his or her own
character
Preparing the mould joints
The mould with the pattern out and ready to be prepared
for the 'core' , which removes some of the weight so these particular statues
can be transported to some inaccessible places on a walk.
The mould split into parts, apart from top and bottom the mould is
a 3D jigsaw with as many as 15 loose pieces.

Preparation to make the core from the mould.
Thought process and discussion
The image far left shows the core within the mould, which has yet
to be fully closed.
On the right we have the first one cast, as it has come out of the mould
with burnt on sand and excess metal which is required to be fettled off.
Here in the fettling shop they have to undergo some grooming to
remove runners and risers and excess metal along the joint lines.
A helping hand
This is showing various stages of shotblasting which has removed
the burnt on sand and fettling to remove excess metal

If madam would like to wait over here.
This one is called Sliphand Susie
Once ready and cleaned and fettled these two can watch the others emerge.
They have to undergo some rusting to give them some colour.
