Cast Iron Roll
3 metre long 2.2 tonne
First a hole in the ground made by the half pattern in the next photo
The half pattern is located on the bottom and moulding boxes placed around.
The boxes are built up and the sand is pumped into the cavity to make the mould
The top is taken off so the the core can be lowered in to the mould
       
     
Finally the casting was poured with 2500 kgs of molten iron.
The roll after shot blasting to remove the burnt on sand.
